On developing a throttlable - an alternate concept nozzle for propulsion systems
Already one suggestion has been given for propulsion system. Don't know about the problems it may have. An additional proposal for creating contoured valve mounted in the throat region / upstream to it. Mounting it upstream may be a better option as flow is still subsonic and minimal disturbances would occured there. The entry to throat can be engineered. One just needs to modify the mass flow rate through the nozzle. Something similar already exists in case of throttlable (as in Russian American jets with thrust vector control). Can it be inverted and mounted where the inlet cavity is having a smaller diameter and only specific amount of flow is allowed to pass through it. As and when needed the angle of the inlet nozzle can be modified so as to change the entry area. It is assumed that the pressure in combustion chamber is also appropriately modified to suit the inlet area. This may very well work for having / developing a throttlable propulsion system. Since distrubances ...
